TLME Chairman Joe Beydoun Delivers Stirring Keynote Address at Awards
Chairman of Transport & Logistics Middle East, Joe Beydoun delivered a rousing keynote address to welcome guests at the Heroes of the Pandemic Awards 2021.
The gala evening was hosted by TV news presenter Katie Jensen with celebrity and 2x world champion boxer Amir King Khan presenting the Special Recognition Awards.
Speaking on the significance of the Awards, Mr Beydoun said: "Tonight's awards ceremony has been created to mark the sacrifices, the bravery and the ingenuity of people across the supply chain during this challenging time that we are facing."
Mr Beydoun goes on to acknowledge and thank TLME CEO, Sam Khan and his team for organising the successful awards evening. The UAE Government was also thanked for its efforts in containing the pandemic and ensuring that an evening like Heroes of the Pandemic Awards could be held in a safe environment for all.
Subsequently, Mr Beydoun appreciated and thanked the assembled Heroes of the supply chain who had "showed compassion, unselfishness and bravery when it was needed the most."
Mr Beydoun described the genesis of the Heroes of the Pandemic Awards narrating how Sam Khan, against all odds in the middle of the lockdown, managed to make a heart-touching and very well-received video throwing a rare spotlight on the outstanding work that the transport and logistics sectors were doing in order to keep supply chains moving and economies ticking in the midst of a historic pandemic.
Mr Beydoun said: "We saw companies altering strategies to make sure operations remained functioning and shelves stayed stacked, while dealing with a host of unprecedented demands. This lead to us realising that these really were stories of heroes.
"These were not the heroes in the hospitals and the frontlines but heroes that ensured that first responders and frontliners had what they needed to combat corona."
Addressing the gathering, Mr Beydoun said: "You are truly heroes among the heroes."
Mr Beydoun said that TLME "was honoured" to provide a platform to celebrate and show gratitude for the hard work, personal sacrifices and dedication of key players in a sector that is seldom recognised for its human side.
"We are very privileged to provide a meeting point where we, as an industry, can mark the beginning of the post pandemic era. So in this spirit we welcome you here for a night of recognition, celebration and enjoyment. I wish you all the very best," concluded Mr Beydoun.
