TLME Future-Proof Technologies Conference Agenda Announced

TLME Future-Proof Technologies Conference Agenda Announced

Unique event to feature the finest minds championing resilience and sustainability in the supply chain

The Agenda for TLME’s upcoming Future Proof Technologies Conference, to be held on the 13th of December 2023 in Dubai, has been announced.

The conference will highlight a new philosophy governing the logistics sector, one that champions emerging technologies, digitalisation, and cross-sector collaboration.

After the twin force of the pandemic and a host of geopolitical tensions and policies interrupting the smooth flow of goods, we’re starting to understand the logistics sector more as a cohesive whole than a collation of disparate sectors.

This understanding is vital in bringing about safer and more efficient operations today, but also in preparing for the shockwaves of the future.

These shockwaves revolve around ‘China+1’ strategies that are leading to a wider and more diverse supply chain, the growth of India as a new logistics leader, and the geopolitical tensions that are restructuring our world.

In turn, this points to a new philosophy governing our sector, one that champions emerging technologies, digitalisation, and cross-sector collaboration.

Henceforth, our operations should no longer be limited to the port or the terminal, but rather interwoven into the broader journey of a container, meaning the future is very much in the realm of cluster operations and integrated logistics across the whole chain, from macro to micro.

This implies several key things:

  1. We must be up to date and aware of breakthrough technologies

  2. We must learn to work as a whole, learning from other sectors and collaborating where possible

  3. We must open up to new market entrants and new energy

  4. We must be aware of growing customer expectations

  5. We must strive to form safe and sustainable operations across the board

  6. We must be aware of a ‘new normal’ governing the global logistics chain

2023 demands new levels of real-time visibility as well as new capabilities within ports, as in an increasingly complex space, customers want simplicity and ease.

If we fail to answer this call, logistics will crumble when the next political, health or social crisis hits, and at that point new entrants will enter and dominate the space.

It’s time to think boldly, to be brave and pioneering, to create a modern, aligned and sustainable supply chain that ‘future proofs’ all our businesses.
