Things are Still Challenging for Air Cargo Carriers Today: Robert Sutton

Investments in new routes and destinations put off for two to three years

Speaking from an airport operator's perspective on the logistics industry's return to normal at TLME's Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 held recently in Dubai, Robert Sutton of Abu Dhabi Airports said it is becoming difficult today to attract new airlines.

Conference moderator Lars Jensen had asked the panellists if things were returning to "normal" for the air cargo industry.

According to Mr Sutton airlines' preference today for narrow-body aircraft - which have become the new norm - have had an impact on cargo capacities.

There was, however, demand for mobilising fleets but due to the current economic situation those plans have been mothballed for two to three years, concluded Mr Sutton.
