DP World’s Global Investment Wave: 2025 in Focus
In 2025, DP World unveiled a bold US$2.5 billion investment package targeting logistics and port infrastructure across India, Africa, South America, and Europe. This expansive program underscores the firm’s intent to bolster global trade through resilient, end-to-end supply chain solutions.
Of these investments, key projects include:
Tuna Tekra terminal, Gujarat, India
An ambitious $510 million container terminal featuring a 1.1 km berth and a 2.19 million TEU annual capacity, designed to connect India's industrial heartland via robust road and rail networks.Banana deep‑sea port, DRC
A 450,000 TEU capacity facility on the Atlantic coast, poised to drive down transit times and attract larger vessel traffic for regional trade.Ndayane Port, Senegal
With an initial US$830 million allocation, this port aims for 1.2 million TEU capacity, positioning Senegal at the forefront of West African trade.Port of Posorja, Ecuador
A US$140 million berth extension expanding dock length to 700 m, enabling simultaneous berthing of two post‑Panamax vessels.London Gateway, UK
A US$1 billion expansion featuring two additional berths and a second rail terminal, expected to generate 400 jobs and help establish the port as Britain’s largest container hub by decade’s end.
Beyond Ports: Electrification & Tech Integration
DP World continues to embrace sustainable operations and digital infrastructure enhancements. Its much-anticipated project to electrify its Jebel Ali Port is now “running around the clock”, with an electric fleet set to move more than 204,000 shipping containers annually.
DP World's Jebel Ali Port Wins Port of Year 2025 Award
Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World GCC, said: “Decarbonising logistics is a core priority for DP World. We are actively electrifying our operations, integrating AI-powered solutions and working closely with our partners like Einride to support our net zero goals.
"As the 10th busiest port globally, Jebel Ali is setting the benchmark for the electrification of transport in high-volume trade hubs.”
London Gateway is also moving towards full automation, with robotic stacking cranes, an automated gate system, and potential for expansion to six berths, reinforcing its cutting-edge logistics profile.
Syria’s Post‑War Ports Reboot
On July 13, 2025, Syria signed a landmark US$800 million agreement with DP World to develop a multi‑purpose terminal at Tartous, alongside industrial and free‑trade zones. The move follows lifted US sanctions and is seen as pivotal in rehabilitating Syrian ports and enhancing regional trade infrastructure.
Deepening India–UAE Trade & Innovation Ties
Beyond physical infrastructure, DP World is spearheading a series of collaborative trade‑innovation ventures:
Bharat Mart, within Jebel Ali Free Zone, is under construction as a 2.7 million sq ft export hub for MSMEs, women-led businesses, and “Made in India” products targeting Gulf, Africa, and Europe.
The Bharat Africa Setu initiative aims to double India–Africa trade by 2030, leveraging DP World's logistics network and adding value‑chain services like export finance and certification.
Nhava Sheva Business Park, near Mumbai, mirrors Dubai’s Jafza with modern warehousing, bonded logistics, and inclusive employment, reinforcing India’s domestic logistics capabilities.
MagRail Pilot at Kandla: DP World, Deendayal Port Authority, and Nevomo are testing autonomous magnetic freight along a 750‑meter track, signaling the advent of future freight mobility.
These efforts form a digital and structural scaffold, part of a nascent India–UAE–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, that mirrors an emerging “operating system” for global trade.
Oceania: Rail Speed Rev‑Up at Port Botany
In Australia, DP World and NSW Ports kicked off a $400 million rail expansion at Port Botany in mid‑2025. Adding five new rail sidings for 600‑m freight trains, this project aims to double rail throughput from 400,000 to 1 million TEUs annually, easing reliance on trucks.
2025 Through the DP World Lens
So far in this year, DP World has set in motion massive infrastructure deployments across continents from Indian terminals and African deep‑sea ports to European berth expansions.
Together, these developments illustrate a holistic blueprint: DP World is not just expanding, it's architecting a globally integrated, digitally driven, and sustainably powered logistics behemoth.
