Emirates Post Wins Hero of the Pandemic - Speed & Efficiency Award

Emirates Post has won the Hero of the Pandemic - Speed & Efficiency Award at the recently held TLME Heroes of the Pandemic Awards 2021 hosted by TV news presenter Katie Jensen with celebrity and 2x world champion boxer, Amir Khan presenting the Special Recognition Awards.

This award has been created to recognise the companies that have maintained exceptionally high standards and dealt with the pressures of a pandemic simultaneously.

With the rise in e-commerce, customer expectations have changed. If we order something online, we often expect to see it delivered the next day. These expectations didn’t cease during the pandemic and logistics companies had to keep up with deliveries even in the most difficult operational conditions.

Emirates Post was the first company in the UAE to introduce contactless deliveries.

The company also launched a new website and retail shop. Further leveraging technology, Emirates Post launched e-PO Box services along with digital postcards that helped communities remain connected.

To further meet the demands of e-commerce fulfilment the company opened a second International Operations Hub at Dubai International airport and a second sorting center at Jebel Ali.

All these proactive measures to move mail and cargo faster and faster, saw Emirates Post's customer satisfaction levels reach unprecedented heights. This was reflected in the voting with Emirates Post emerging the clear winner of the Hero of the Pandemic - Speed & Efficiency Award.

On the reasons why Emirates Post got the most votes to win this award, Mr Somers said: "We showed resilience. We were open everyday even in the lockdown. We have increased capacity dramatically because our customers were giving us so much work.

"We also made a lot of new customers as everybody needed home deliveries - and fast deliveries - to their houses during the lockdown. And we delivered."

According to Mr Somers one of the outcomes of the pandemic has been the boom in the e-commerce business and an - almost overnight - increase of public trust in online transactions.

Mr Somers adds: "The whole sector will profit from e-commerce growth. I think its a global fact of life that supply chain and logistics companies are seen now as a vital sector and the future is bright."
