Etihad Rail Infrastructure Linking Plans Complete

Etihad Rail’s UAE rail project has moved one step closer becoming a reality after tracks have been aligned and designs completed that will link ports and infrastructure nodes in the UAE.

CEO of Etihad Rail Shadi Malak said that when the track is completed, the GCC rail will extend from the UAE border with Saudi Arabia to Fujairah and the northern emirates.

Malik recently said: “We signed a number of key agreements with key beneficiaries and partners, [including] Abu Dhabi Ports Company and Zones Corp Abu Dhabi [in preparation for completion].”

Challenges remain however, such as the intense UAE heat acting as an obstacle to ensuring tracks remain still and stable.
