Kingdom secures sixteenth spot in the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index for Q2 2023

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of Jubail Commercial Port to the India – West Med shipping service by ocean carrier MSC.

The new route will link Jubail to the ports of Hamad, Khalifa, Jebel Ali, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Hazira, Mundra, Djibouti, Jeddah, King Abdullah, Marsaxlokk, Gioia Tauro, Salerno, Leghorn, Genoa, Barcelona, and Valencia on a weekly basis through a 15,000-TEU vessel.

With an increasing number of shipping liners extending their freight services to Saudi ports, the Kingdom was able to successfully secure the sixteenth spot in the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) for Q2 2023 with a score of 76.16 points.

On the other hand, the inclusion of Jubail Commercial Port strengthens the Arabian Gulf based hub’s credentials as a key trade destination that contributes heavily to achieving the nation’s strategic ambitions of becoming a global logistics heavyweight.
