Shortage of Capacity to Create Bottlenecks for Air Cargo in 2026
Speaking to CEO and Publisher of Transport & Logistics M.E. Sam Khan on the air cargo bottlenecks that are likely to arise this year, Dilip Kumar Sitlani, Chairman & Founder of Connect Worldwide Cargo (CWC) summed it up in three words - shortage of capacity.
“We need more capacity out of the UAE,” said Mr Sitlani. Presently, air cargo moving in and out of the region was restricted due to the lack of belly hold space on passenger aircraft that were operating in greatly reduced numbers, particularly the bigger aircraft.
Putting out a call to all the major air carriers via the podcast, Mr Sitlani requests the bigger air carriers to keep their large freighters operating because that’s where the demand and the money is. “In times like these we need more freighter aircraft not passenger aircraft,” he said.
