UAE Reveals Hyperloop Opening Date

First section almost operational

The UAE has revealed the opening date of the world’s first operational Hyperloop by stating it will be ready for the World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Dubai has raced ahead of the competition to be the first country to utilise a full working Hyperloop system in which people and cargo can be whizzed at incredible speeds of up to 750mph.

Reports are suggesting the Hyperloop has cost between US$20 and $40 million per kilometre.

Expo 2020 is set to be a major global event in which Dubai will pull human civilization to its cutting-edge with the development of 5G networks, as well as the aforementioned Hyperloop.

The UAE Hyperloop, which will hugely slash travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, is being constructed by UAE-based Aldar.

Once complete, the total travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be 12 minutes.

Bibop Gresta, Chairman of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, said: “It was a far-fetched dream, but we are all excited now that it’s a dream coming true in the UAE in 2020.”

He added: “Basically, the Abu Dhabi Hyperloop system is right now past the feasibility study. We have already completed the study after we partnered with Aldar Properties last year.

“It will be the first commercial Hyperloop line in the world.”
