Former DP World Chief Bin Sulayem Takes Charge of Malaysia's Largest Port Operator
Former DP World chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem has reportedly assumed direct management of Malaysia's largest port operator, MMC Port Holdings.
The move places Bin Sulayem, who serves as MMC's Executive Chairman, in charge of the company's day-to-day operations while the search for a permanent chief executive continues.
MMC Ports operates seven strategically important ports along the Strait of Malacca, one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.
In a message to employees, Bin Sulayem said operations and strategic projects would continue without disruption, emphasizing business continuity and operational stability during the leadership transition. Senior executives and port CEOs have been instructed to report directly to his office until further notice.
The leadership change comes as MMC Ports continues to play a pivotal role in Malaysia's trade and logistics sector, with the company having previously explored plans for a landmark public listing.
