CNN catches up with Kingdom Holding CEO at Davos
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, CNN’s John Defterios spoke to the CEO of Kingdom Holding Talal Al Maiman.
During the discussion, Al Maiman spoke of the investment opportunities available in Saudi Arabia and encouraged investors to see for themselves the potential within the country.
Al Maiman said: “We are putting our money in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, I hope this is an invitation to everyone to reconsider and come to Saudi Arabia and see the potential investment opportunities...
“... we believe it’s not also for the investors, it’s also for the companies we’ve invested in to come and participate in the 2030 plans.”
In regards to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Al Maiman explained: “Unfortunate incidents happen everywhere, and we think it is an unfortunate thing that has happened, but I think we should go forward.
“Saudi Arabia is full of opportunity and full of potential investments, so we welcome everyone to come have a look at what we have to say.”
Despite recent scrutiny of Saudi’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Al Maiman continues to show his support for Saudi’s leadership telling CNN: “I have no doubt with the wise leadership of Saudi Arabia they know exactly what they’re doing, and they know exactly when to respond to it as for myself, I am only a business man trying to answer your business questions.”
Finally, commenting on the completion of Jeddah Tower, Al Maiman said: “It’s actually the tallest tower in the world and work will be continuing within the next 6 months.
“The contractor had an issue with labourers, therefore, the tower was halted but all the infrastructure worth $400 million is being taken place as we speak and it’s almost going to be handed over in March 2019.”
