Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has launched five new logistics routes designed to strengthen cargo connectivity between key Saudi cities and ports along the Arabian Gulf, marking another step in the Kingdom’s push to modernize its transport infrastructure and boost trade efficiency.
According to SAR, the newly introduced routes will link major industrial and commercial centers with strategic Gulf ports, enabling faster and more reliable movement of goods.
The expansion is expected to significantly reduce transit times while easing congestion on highways, where freight transport has traditionally been concentrated.
The new routes connect logistics hubs in Riyadh and other inland regions to ports including King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Jubail Commercial Port.

By expanding rail freight services, the company aims to lower operational costs for businesses and provide a more sustainable alternative to road transport. Rail transport is widely recognized as more energy-efficient, and the shift is expected to contribute to reduced carbon emissions.
