Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a global logistics hub under Vision 2030. From your perspective, what role does Saudi Global Ports play in turning that vision into reality and what opportunities excite you most over the next decade?
Saudi Arabia's logistics transformation is one of the most ambitious in the world today, and Saudi Global Ports (SGP) is proud to play a key role in enabling that vision. Through our network of ports, inland logistics facilities, rail connectivity, and integrated supply chain solutions, we help facilitate trade and strengthen the Kingdom's position as a gateway connecting regional and global markets.
What excites me most is the opportunity to support the next phase of growth. As investments continue across ports, logistics zones, rail infrastructure, and industrial developments, Saudi Arabia is creating a highly connected logistics ecosystem. SGP is well positioned to contribute to this transformation by enabling seamless trade flows and creating greater value for customers and the broader economy.
The recent disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have highlighted how vulnerable global shipping routes remain. What measures has Saudi Global Ports implemented to ensure operational continuity during this period of geopolitical instability? And does the Riyadh Dry Port figure anywhere in these plans?
Recent events have reinforced the importance of resilience and preparedness across supply chains. At SGP, we maintain robust business continuity plans and work closely with customers, shipping lines, government stakeholders, and our operational teams to ensure cargo continues moving safely and efficiently.
Riyadh Dry Port plays an important role in this ecosystem. As an inland logistics hub connected to our port operations through rail and road networks, it provides additional flexibility and helps maintain cargo flow across the Kingdom. Together with our integrated logistics solutions, this strengthens supply chain resilience and supports business continuity during periods of uncertainty.
How do you see Saudi Global Ports adapting its long-term strategy in a way that could strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub for trade?
Our strategy is centred on strengthening connectivity, expanding capacity, and delivering greater value to our customers.
We continue to invest in infrastructure, technology, and integrated supply chain solutions that connect ports, logistics zones, rail networks, and inland facilities. By creating a seamless supply chain ecosystem, we can support growing trade volumes, attract new business opportunities, and contribute to Saudi Arabia's ambition of becoming a leading global logistics and trade hub.
Ports today are becoming increasingly technology-driven, from automation to AI-powered logistics systems. How is Saudi Global Ports investing in innovation, and how do you see technology reshaping port operations for SGP?
Technology is a key enabler of efficient and reliable port operations. At SGP, we continue to invest in advanced operating systems, digital platforms, automation initiatives, and data-driven tools that enhance visibility, productivity, and customer experience, supported by the best-in-class expertise and network of our technical partner, PSA International, a leading global port operator
Looking ahead, technologies such as artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and greater digital integration across supply chains will further improve planning, decision-making, safety, and operational efficiency. The future of ports will be increasingly connected, intelligent, and customer-focused.
As you grow your presence in Saudi Arabia with the operationalisation of the new Jubail Container Terminal along with the expansion of the Terminal 2 at Dammam and the creation of integrated logistics facilities there, what are the biggest leadership challenges in maintaining excellence while scaling up so rapidly?
As we continue to expand our footprint in Saudi Arabia, our priority is ensuring that growth is matched by operational excellence at every stage. Developments such as the Jubail Container Terminal, the expansion of Terminal 2 in Dammam, and the creation of integrated supply chain facilities represent significant opportunities to strengthen the Kingdom's logistics ecosystem and create greater value for our customers.
Achieving this requires strong alignment across people, processes, and technology, while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, reliability, and service quality. We remain focused on developing our people, strengthening our capabilities, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
What gives me confidence is the strength of our team and the partnerships we have built over the years. Together, we are creating a more connected and resilient port ecosystem and logistics network that supports Saudi Arabia's long-term growth ambitions and Vision 2030.
How is Saudi Global Ports approaching environmental responsibility while balancing efficiency and growth?
For us, environmental responsibility and operational efficiency go hand in hand. We continuously look for opportunities to optimise our operations, improve resource utilisation, and support more sustainable supply chain practices.
As supply chains networks become more integrated and efficient, they can contribute to reducing congestion, improving cargo flows, and creating long-term environmental benefits. Our focus is on delivering sustainable growth while maintaining high operational standards and supporting the Kingdom's broader sustainability ambitions.
What role does Saudi Global Ports have in preparing the next generation of Saudi professionals to lead in the highly specialised and globally competitive port industry?
People are at the heart of everything we do. Developing the next generation of Saudi talent is essential to both SGP's future and the continued growth of the Kingdom's logistics sector.
We invest in training, mentorship, knowledge transfer, and leadership development programmes that equip our people with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry. Our goal is to create opportunities for talented individuals to develop world-class capabilities and contribute to Saudi Arabia's long-term success.
Looking back on your leadership journey, what decisions or principles have been most important in shaping the way you lead Saudi Global Ports today?
One principle that has consistently guided me is the belief that long-term success is built through people, partnerships, and trust.
Strong results come from empowering teams, maintaining a clear sense of purpose, and focusing on continuous improvement. I also believe in taking a long-term view when
making decisions, particularly in infrastructure and supply chains, where investments made today can create lasting value for future generations. These principles continue to shape how I lead SGP and how we approach growth and transformation.
