Iran Attack Damages Kuwait Airport Terminal

Strike disrupts operations at Kuwait International Airport leaving one dead and dozens injured

TLME News Service

An Iranian missile struck Kuwait International Airport early Wednesday, severely damaging Terminal 1, killing one person and injuring dozens in one of the most significant escalations in Gulf tensions since an April ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

Kuwaiti authorities said the attack caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, forcing the temporary suspension of flights and the diversion of incoming aircraft.

Emergency crews responded to fires and structural damage at the airport, while officials activated contingency plans to restore operations. Flights later resumed from other airport facilities following safety assessments.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned the strike as a violation of the country's sovereignty and international law. The government said the attack also damaged diplomatic facilities and other civilian sites. Health officials reported multiple injuries among airport workers and passengers.

The assault came amid renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States. US Central Command said Iranian missiles and drones were launched toward targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, though several reportedly failed or were intercepted.

The US military later announced retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran denied responsibility for the airport damage, maintaining that its operations targeted military objectives and accusing the United States of provoking the latest confrontation. Regional leaders have urged restraint as diplomatic efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire continue.
