Singapore Looks to Solidify Global Maritime Hub Status

Dr. Lam Pin Min outlines vision to keep Singapore the globe’s maritime centre

Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Transport and Health Dr. Lam Pin Min has outlined a new vision to keep Singapore the globe’s maritime centre.

Dr Min spoke of two new strategies at the Singapore Shipping Association’s (SSA) Lunar New Year Reception recently..

The first is to upgrade the Singapore national war risk insurance facility, and the second is an initiative to crossfertalise digital solutions.

Recently, the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore, the Singapore Shippers’ Association (SSA) and Singapore Customs signed an MoU focusing on digitalizing trade and maritime documentation such as Bills of Lading for the industry.

Dr Lam Pin Min said: “The close partnership between the Government, the industry and SSA is a unique competitive advantage for Singapore.

“We must continue to strengthen this partnership. This will enable Maritime Singapore to stay relevant and competitive.”
